What this app does

What The FAQ generates product and store FAQs from a merchant's own Shopify data and answers shopper questions using only that data.

Data we collect from merchants

• Product information (titles, descriptions, metafields, variants, images) and store policies (shipping, returns, terms), read via the Shopify API with the merchant's consent, to build the knowledge base.
• Shop domain and app settings.

Data we collect from shoppers

• Questions typed into the ask-box, stored with an anonymous, randomly-generated visitor identifier. We do not collect shopper names, emails, or Shopify customer records.
• Anonymous interaction events (FAQ views and clicks) used to show merchants aggregate statistics.

AI processing

Product data and shopper questions are processed by Anthropic's Claude models to generate knowledge bases, FAQs, and answers. Data sent to Anthropic is not used to train their models per Anthropic's commercial terms.

Storage, retention and deletion

Data is stored on Supabase (EU region, Frankfurt) and Railway. When a merchant uninstalls the app, access tokens are deleted immediately and all remaining shop data is permanently deleted within 48 hours upon receipt of Shopify's shop/redact webhook. We honor all mandatory Shopify privacy webhooks.

Data sharing

We do not sell data. Data is shared only with the processors named above (Anthropic, Supabase, Railway) as required to operate the service.
